In order to become who you really are, you have to look inside. Look inside at all your defense mechanisms that in the past protected you, helped you survive, but now they are no longer serving you.
Those defense mechanisms are wounds that turned into shields, that protected something a long time ago, and that want to prevent you from being hurt again. But most probably, they are the reason why you are stuck. Because you made them part of who you are, and when they are activated, they actually open that wound, and make the pain resurface, causing thoughts and maybe behaviors that you don’t want. As long as you are wrapped in old wounds and behavios, you cannot move forward. You are stuck and you cannot reach your true potential. So in order to move on, look back. Look at what holds you back. See it, accept it, and let it go. You are safe now.
