Do you practice gratitude? If yes, keep doing it. If not, start doing it. Every day, write down 3 things you are grateful for and why you are grateful for them. When we practice gratitude, our positive emotions grow. Even though it may not seem so, they do. When I give this exercise to my players, we start with one week. The surprise is, usually they continue to do it. Why? Because it makes them feel good. And we reach 21 days. It takes 21 days to turn a behavior into a habit.
When practicing gratitude becomes a habit in your life, when you do so even in your darkest days, when everything seems broken, something shifts in your mind. You start to realize that there are good things even when you don’t feel like there are. And this is how you start to learn to have and optimistic mindset. It’s not about rainbows , unicorns and butterflies. It’s about resilience and your ability to bounce back. This is your starting point.
