The Buddha and the Badass: the ultimate transformation guide

After reading “The code of the extraordinary mind” by Vishen Lakhiani, I became a very big fan of the author. I resonate  a lot with him, with his vision for personal development and basically with his philosophy toward life itself.

He is the creator of Mindvalley, the biggest platform for personal development nowadays, and his ideas are flowing constantly. They are science based, and his passion for human mind is something that I also share on a very personal level.

“The Buddha and the badass” is a book that takes the personal transformation to the next level: how to integrate your spirituality into your work.

The first thing you have to know about Vishen’s writing is the fact that it will challenge your beliefs, it will shake your knowledge and shift the way you look at life forever.

The second thing you have to know about his writing is the fact that you may not like this approach because of all the reasons stated above. When you are challenged from your core it’s uncomfortable, it’s not easy going and it’s definitely a very hard pill to swallow.

But this is the beauty: sometimes you need to destroy everything you knew in your life, in order to allow great things to enter.

“The Buddha and the badass” is a very practical book, with a lot of stories, exercises and really cool ways in which you can integrate everything that you learn into your growth.

Everything starts from inside: your view towards the world outside yourself, the way you understand your possibilities , the way you attract the people around, the way you make connections.

Understanding the importance of your authenticity plays a crucial role in the way you redesign yourself, because everything revolves around this. When you get to the root of your authenticity is when things start to make sense and where the transformation begins.

You cannot change the bad habits, you cannot be unleashed from the fears until you transform yourself, because all transformation is change, but not all change is transformation.

When you change something, you can easily go back to how things were, but when transformation happens,  it changes you forever. Do you know those big AHA moments? Those moments in which you realise something and then everything shifts. That’s transformation.

When you experience transformation, you grow, you go beyond your comfort zone because this is the only way for you. It’s like learning to ride a bike. Once you’ve learned, you cannot unlearn it. It’s forever. You cannot go back.

Lakhiani says that you must give yourself the opportunity for these moments to come, because you cannot have them if you are on a constant run to achieve goals that others set for you.

I find it funny that knowing the world today, the way in which everybody is obsessed with this idea of perfection in every area in our lives, Lakhiani shares my philosophy that we must give ourselves permission to fail in order to succeed. Failure gives you the opportunity to experiment, TO TRY, to see what fits you and your business, to understand your skills and your growth opportunities. As I always say, failure is the foundation of success.

But maybe the biggest takeaway for me is the fact that in order to reach your true destiny, your WANT must match WHO you are.

So whatever you want to achieve in your life, you have to think about it: who is that person that has everything I want? What are his/hers/their thoughts, desires, visions, perspectives? How does she/he/they love, feel, dress, act? WHO is that person and what do I need to do now to become that person?

Ask yourself: who do I need to become in order to reach my goals?

You cannot become a great leader if your mentality does not match the requirements of a great leader. You cannot become a successful creator if you don’t change your limiting beliefs. You cannot skip levels. You cannot jump right to the destination if you don’t take the journey.

Lakhiani’s book is filled with great studies that he finds helpful in his own journey of hacking the great human mind. But most of all, his book is filled with great examples and stories of how exactly you can take your growth to the highest level. You just have to be willing to.

“The Buddha and the badass” is a book that suits leaders, entrepreneurs, employees and basically anyone who feels like there is more than old bullshit rules and limiting beliefs.

If you love uncomfortable truths, this book is for you. If you love growth, this book is for you. If you think that it’s time for a massive change in the culture of work, this book is for you. If you love your comfort zone, this book is for you, because you need that push to get the hell out of there.

Are you ready for your transformation? Are you ready for the best version of yourself? Go!
